Let This Cup Pass From Me

Profound Understanding

My Papaw Tollett was a Missionary Baptist preacher.

What he lacked in physical stature, he more than made up for in spiritual boldness.

He was a pillar of our church.  A strong cornerstone – not one to ever shy away from the Truth.

Sculpting in the Storm

In the Hands of a Master

I am a great lover of Renaissance art.  As a teacher, this time period was one of my favorites to cover in my upper-level elective class.  I focused almost exclusively on 44 pieces I had chosen to weave the tale of this time line through.  Continue reading “Sculpting in the Storm”

If I Only Had A Brain

Mrs. Jones, my kindergarten teacher, had just explained to us what “Show & Tell Day” was.  This was the first time I had ever heard of such a thing, and I was very excited about it.  All the students were going to get to bring things from home, show them off, and tell about the item.  Such a great way to get to know my classmates a little better, and a great way to let them know more about myself.  We were all, pretty much, new to each other.  I quickly began to look around the room and wonder, “What will Julie bring?  Ooh, what will Tammy bring?  Shane, what will Shane bring?”  It was very exciting, and then I focused back on myself.  What would I bring?  How would I decide what was the best item to bring?  This provided endless possibilities for me.  I really wanted to “wow” the crowd.  So, I decided on the best, most amazing, most interesting thing I had in my house…the brain. Have Thine Own Way

Have Thine own way Lord

Have Thine own way

Thou art the potter, I am the clay

Mold me and make me after Thy will

While I am waiting yielded and still

Lord, this is all I truly want.  For You to have Your will fulfilled in me.  Whatever You want me to do, wherever You want me to go, I want only that.  I am ready and willing to serve You, and I pray that You will use me to bring glory to Your great name.  Help me to know my calling.  To hear Your voice, and have no doubt.  To have the strength and the grace to pick up my cross and follow You.  These things I pray in Jesus Holy Name.

Amen
