So the great dragon was thrown out—the ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the one who deceives the whole world.

The Power of Pride: Part 2

To see Part 1 of this series, CLICK HERE.

In Part 1, we began to look at the power of pride. I asked you to complete a Self Examination to help expose any areas in your life where pride might be hiding. The exam was based on only 5 areas I chose to focus on. Pride can be hiding in many other places in your life. This examination was meant to provide you with food for thought.

Life is Like a Chocolate Pie

The year my mother and brother died, we decided to have a big ole family Christmas at my parents’ house.  Everyone would be there from my mom’s side of the family.  We even decided to draw names and exchange gifts.  My mom and brother had only died 23 days apart from each other.  It started in October, so we were all still very raw and pretty much going through life like zombies. From Tranquility to Terror

FROM TRANQUILITY TO TERROR

Our youngest daughter, Autumn, moved to Hawaii this past September.  She wanted to have an adventure.  Just a few days ago her adventure turned into something she hadn’t quite bargained for.  She was sound asleep, having worked late the night before, when the alarms first went out. This Little Light of Mine

One of my favorite times in church as a child, is when we would sing songs in our Sunday school.  Often, we would perform one as a special for the congregation before the preaching service began.  These children’s church songs usually had hand gestures or other body movements to go along with the words, signifying the ideas in the verses.  I particularly loved, This Little Light of Mine.  The version we sang went like this: Continue reading “This Little Light of Mine”

The Mark of The Lord

I come from a family of many colors.  On my mother’s side, we are Native American.  That rich, red blood, mixed with a wonderful variety of shades of white, provides for some beautiful skin tones ranging the spectrum from white to just left of black (that means not quite black for those of you struggling with the color spectrum).  So you get caramel…oooh, chocolate…yummy, a few pieces of divinity (the candy not the Creator)…mmm, and a couple of espresso lights thrown in there just for fun.   Continue reading “The Mark of The Lord”

Let God Lead Your Marriage

My husband and I just celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary.  I am so proud of that!  In our world today, I think it’s a huge accomplishment.  I would just love to tell you that our marriage has followed a path lined with chocolate kisses and rose petals, but that would be a lie.  We are just like anybody else.  We have had struggles and hardships that have tested our union.  Even though, we love each other deeply, it wasn’t until we realized we needed to put God first in our lives, that a divine calmness came over us.  We are both saved, but we had spent much of our lives together letting everything else in the world get in the way of our service to the Lord. God’s Plan

Dear Lord,

Help me to have faith that You are in control of my life.  Help me to recognize Satan’s attempts to sabotage my faith.  Give me the strength to drive him out of my thoughts so my true focus can be on You.  Let me live to serve You, oh Lord!

In Jesus Precious Name,

Amen

Just Do It!

If I worked all day, every day, for the rest of my life, it would never be enough.  I, in my imperfection, my sin, my absolute ‘humanness’ could never do enough.  No matter how pure my intentions, or how true my heart, I can never reach this pinnacle I thought I had to reach in order to be able to serve the Lord.  I can’t wait until I’ve finally reached this level of Nirvana, that does not exist, to serve God.  I have to serve Him now. Continue reading “Just Do It!”
